Create, Duplicate, Close or Archive an Initiative

Here’s how to independently manage your initiatives: creation, duplication, closure, or archiving.

Updated over 6 months ago

🚀 Step 1: Create an initiative from your dashboard

  1. Go to the My Actions tab, then click on My Initiatives.

  2. Click Create an initiative to open the creation form.

📝 Step 2: Fill in initiative details

🗣 Overview

  • Language(s): Choose the language(s) your initiative will appear in. For any field marked "This field is missing translations", click and complete the translated version.

  • Target company (optional):

    • You can make the initiative visible to a specific partner company

    • Or leave it open to all your partners

  • Type of initiative: Choose from one-time, skills-based, mentoring, etc.

  • Title: Keep it short and action-oriented, using verbs in the infinitive or imperative.

  • Description: Write a clear, engaging text for volunteers.
    Best practices:

📖 4 key elements to include:

    1. Who you are: 1–2 lines about your organization

    2. Why you need help: context of the initiative

    3. Volunteer tasks: concrete actions they'll take

    4. How to sign up: explain the next steps (e.g. “Click ‘Sign up’ on Komeet, we’ll follow up via messaging”)

  • Image: Add a visual to boost visibility on the platform.

📅 Step 3: Schedule the initiative

You have two options:

  • Fixed date(s)

Already know the time and date? Fill it out directly !

🤔 How does it work ?

  • Fill out the form and click Save

  • In the Planning section, click Add a date and complete:

    • Max number of volunteers (⚠️ registrations close automatically once filled)

    • Date (past or future)

    • Start and end time

    • Frequency (optional: weekly, monthly…)

    • Click Confirm

    • Repeat for more dates if needed

    • Set a registration deadline

    • Click Save

❌ To cancel a specific date: click Cancel next to the date. Choose:

  • This date only

  • This date and all future dates (for recurring initiatives)

💬 Send a message to registered volunteers to notify them of changes — transparency helps build trust!

  • Flexible period

    No fixed date yet?
Select “During a period, based on volunteer availability.”
Volunteers propose times and you can validate or adjust them.

⚙️ Step 4: Final settings

  • Themes / cause areas

  • Main coordinator: receives all notifications (you can add backup contacts)

  • External form (optional): Paste the URL if registration happens on an external site (e.g. Google Form)

  • Confirmation email: Customize the email volunteers receive upon signing up

💡 Duplicate an initiative

❓ Why duplicate?
Save time if you’re running similar actions (e.g. different locations/dates). It keeps your structure and details — you just update what’s needed.

How to duplicate:

  1. Go to My Initiatives

  2. Find the one you want to copy

  3. Click More options > Duplicate

➡️ A pre-filled initiative appears — adjust as needed!

✅ Understand and manage initiative statuses

Statuses affect visibility to volunteers and company admins:

  • 🔓 Open: Visible to collaborators (unless unpublished by a company admin)

  • 🚫 Closed: No longer visible to new volunteers, but still accessible to those already signed up

  • 📦 Archived: Hidden from everyone except your organization

🔁 To change a status:

From the initiative list, click on the Status column:

  • Click Open to close it

  • Click Closed to reopen

  • Once closed, you can archive it

Closing an initiative does not cancel existing volunteer registrations. It only affects visibility while honoring prior commitments.
